Peter I must say you are up front and very articulate with your views. As requested by some up here I did a little digging into pasts posts of people up here and you, Reg and sometimes EEE are in a class of your own. On the other hand you have the village idiots with Edlorah and Mick so I guess that rounds things out. The questions you bring up are good ones but they have all been brought up before. Have you read any CS Lewis? I think you are taking the high road that you are somehow more intelligent than the Christians and how could they not see the obvious. They must be stupid of course. Except we are not all rednecks from Mississippi named Jethro as you seem to group me with. Do all Christians take Genisis literally? Of course not but then they also don't think that we evolved from Apes as Darwin would have you believe. There are way too many holes in Darwin's theories. John Lennon was by far the most talented of the Beatles and also by far the most arrogant. Not a very good father to his son Julian and had extremely progressive views which I'm sure you just ate up especially Imagine. Hey whatever yanks your chain.

My main point is that so many people use the Bible as their moral reference point, and I believe the book is as flawed as the humans who wrote it. I embrace the lessons from the Sermon on the Mount, but I am repulsed by much of Leviticus. Most people aren't stupid, they are just ignorant. And hey, I'm ignorant of so many bloody things! I just don't understand how Christians reconcile so many things from the Bible. They are all so accepting (ugh), and unquestioning. My god gave me a brain, and I believe it is incumbent upon me to use it, and if I'm out-of-step with mainstream believers, so be it. As to evolution, every year brings new evidence that Darwin was correct, and Genesis was wrong. Many Christians will never concede this point because if they give-in here, logic would say that there may be other points that they would have to surrender.
