I'm almost done with the book, Mental Immunity, and this passage just jumped out at me, can't imagine why!

"The erosion of reason starts off imperceptible. But at a certain point, a tipping point is reached. The mechanism becomes noticeably unreliable, and the affected mind, or minds. deteriorate rapidly. When this happens, a person, or entire community of people, can become effectively unreachable, beyond the reach of rational appeal."
