The one thing all intelligence gathering and law enforcement needs and will never have is
sincere cooperation between agencies. And the way we are going, this will never happen.(Here's an example of the lack of inter-agency cooperation. Bank robberies come under
the jurisdiction of the the FBI. Our agency will the initial investigation, scene examination,
interviews, et cetera. Usually, if there are no real leads, the investigation stays at the local
level, however, usually if there are strong leads - we like to say, a case with a fingerprint,
video tape of the incident with the suspect wearing no mask and easily identified, along
with the suspect in custody and a video taped confession, the FBI will take it over.)What must be done is a complete and open investigation of 9/11 and this will probably
never happen, and this is not needed out of the drive for political embarrassment, but to
find out what problems existed so solutions can be developed to prevent this again.I can tell everyone, from experience, that there probably was ample information out there,
that if property collected, analyzed and pieced together, 9/11 could have been prevented.
However, what prevented this was the human condition. The sort of agencies involved in
intelligence gathering and investigation are severly damaged by ego and career minded
driven people out to protect their own fiefdoms and mainly their own asses. The first thing the Bush Adminstration should have done, from the get go, is get a
bi-partisan (if ever possible) panel together and tell them to go where ever their
investigation went and give them unfettered access to ALL information. Instead, what we
now get, and will probably have, is a group of bureaucrats and politically minded people
who are trying to save their rear-ends from embarrassment and firing. My point is, people appointed to these sorts of panels are rarely the types who can get the
job done and instead are the types of people of are well known not to complete the job
and will not rock the boat.Where I am at, we, the ones who can do the job, get so frustrated over how important
things go FUBAR because incompetent managers are not held accountable. Instead of
counting the beans like they are supposed to be doing, they start sticking their noses in
places they don't belong and muck things up. The worse thing is that they are never held
accountable. (I can go on and on about administratively screwed up cases. It is offensive,
disgusting and should not be allowed to go on, but it persists because adminstrators, like
terrible doctors, corrupt politicians and incompetent lawyers create an environment to
protect themselves.)And this is why something like 9/11 will probably happen again. If those who want to be
managers and adminstrators were held to the same accountability those of us who do the
job are, then things might start to change. And ALL Americans should be outraged over
this because 9/11 is an event unlike any other in our history.
