You and Dan seem too eager to banish Kevin G. There have been many other characters on this board whose "controversial" words were tolerated much for a much longer time. Besides, if everyone on this board who was guilty of this was asked to "go away" then this would be a lonely place. We've all make mistakes and said some things we regret. God knows I have.

It isn't in my power to banish Kevin. And Dan has got to be the most hands-down board moderator I've ever had any experience with. I run boards for a handful of artists, and--this is the truth--I've tried to use Dan as my model.

We've all said things we regret. I even regret my clever (wasn't it?), tongue-in-cheek "Dale, blow it out your ass" post of a few months ago. But I think there's a difference here, and I don't base it on ideology. As I see it, there's little mileage in pretending to "treat David like everyone else"--by simple virtue of his life as a public figure, his music, and his tremendous willingness to share, we know more about him than he does about us. It's his name on the site, and he's the reason we all come here, whether we admit it or not.

Because of this knowledge, we're at a bit of an unfair advantage when it comes to personal attacks on David, and for that reason, I think it went galaxies beyond the pale to make a hurtful dig at an incident he only recently described as the worst of his adult life. It was just nasty. It has no parallel against "wild" allegations about the present administration. It was intended to hurt, and to escalate a confrontation. And that's why I'd like it if Kevin went away. I know sand gets flung around in our little box from time to time--that's part of what I like about this place. But come on.

I understand the KDB comparison. But I didn't defend those instances, particularly when he got nasty with David. If you look at my post history, I think you'll see I asked Kent to leave when that happened too. "Controversial" is one thing...personal attacks are quite another.

Hope this made some sense, Dale. I hardly ever agree with you, but I know you come in peace.
