This is an interesting thread....and it makes me wonder why more posters don't add to
it....people go on about the politics of postings but don't add anything to the postings. I
wish more people would post whatever they like and are passionate about....but here goes
my reply....1) Can't recall much music from the first time....it was a bumbling sort of thing...2) Songs that came at pinnacle times in my life - Well, I always think of Billy Paul's "Me
and Mrs Jones" and how much my Mom liked that song when it was out. I recall taking a
a back road to town and how so often when a bump was hit we'd have to reach our hand
way up in the dash to reattach a speaker wire to get the AM radio working again.3) Driving along the dark, pine tree lined highways surrounding Ft Bragg NC while
listening to Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" and thinking of a spurned relationship and
thinking how that song fit so well.4) My Mother telling me how happy it made her overhearing my friends and I one night
drunkenly singing along to the soundtrack to "Animal House"....5) Receiving a mix tape from my wife while in the Middle East - I still have it and on it are
songs like The Doors' "The End" and Billy Joel's "Goodnight Saigon"...And when I die, I'd like for everyone to sit around and tell humorous and self effacing
good stories about their life and my own and not be sad, but happy for the life that was
lived. How about ACDC's "Have A Drink On Me" and throw in Jim Croce's "Time In A
Bottle" to remind everyone how fleeting life is and then get back to the stuff to make
people happy.
