I'm just curious because despite Saddam being the Butcher of Bagdad for some 20 years prior, I just don't recall any great outcry from the Right that we had to go take him out. We had him in 1991 and we pulled back. I do remember a public outcry then that we should finish the job but that went nowhere. Would you say that was the biggest case of a president dropping the ball in the history of our country? He had him right where he wanted him, the public, right and left, were behind the idea of taking out Saddam...the world was behind us...and we bailed.

Just trying to find where you're coming from on this GA. I do think it's sad that this war with Iraq has been turned into a partisan issue...it shouldn't be but it sure as hell is getting used that way by both sides. I believe there's a lot of dishonesty that surrounds this mess and it needs to be talked about...at least by us...the voters...in a more honest way. Can you see where I'm coming from?

I absolutely see where you are coming from when it comes to the partisan issue.

As far as '91 is concerned, I don't know about "the right" but I know that I was damn well pissed about us not taking him out then, and I have been frustrated for a very long time that military options for doing so were taken off the table. I have always wanted him gone, as I have wanted all despots and dictators gone. I wish it was the way that Eddie Izzard said on Maher the other night: "Hopefully this is the beginning of an alphabetical list that begins with "S".

I do take issue with the idea that the world was behind us, they were behind us CONTINGENT upon the fact that we DO NOT take him out. I wish we had anyway, but that was written into the U.N. Resolution, and Bush I followed it.

I voted for Clinton in '92. I could care less what "the right" was thinking then.

As I have said many times before, my view is not tied to GW's view. I disagree with him on many things. The ass kissing that he does with China for one.

Maybe that would be a good thread for discussion eh?

What are the things that you disagree with your party on?
