: I assume you were at The Music Bar in Bar Harbor?Yes you'd be correct about The Music Bar. I spotted it the first time we went through Bar Harbor and when we returned on Tuesday I thought it was my one shot to get the new Mehldau up there. The only other place for records up there I saw was a Wal-Mart and I didn't bother with them cause I figured they don't carry jazz. You know Best Buy near me used to have a Mehldau section in with the jazz but they have since removed it. They are not stocking any Mehldau stuff. I buy most of my records (I guess I really should be calling them cd's at this point) at Newbury Comics. I go to Tower on occasion as well and the Virgin store down on Newbury street isn't bad. Harvard Square is always a cool spot for music hunting with Tower, HMV, Newbury, and a variety of places that carry bootleg material all right in one spot. You can't beat Newbury Comics for price and selection though. You're right the guy at the Music Bar was cool he talked to my friend about the Jeff Watts record he bought but I think he missed the fact that the new Mehldau was out is all. I bet he has it in stock now. I didn't even check to see if they had the NFU record as I already own two copies of it. He did have an interesting selection there though and I was going to buy the new Cassandra Wilson but I found a copy of the Remy Shand record there for 8 bucks and my buddy Rick is a huge fan of the Motown sound so I picked that up instead. I also grabbed a Nil Lara ep for 2 bucks that I'm not sure is even in print anymore unless you order it direct from Nil. I did get the new Mehldau today at Newbury and all I can say after the first couple of listens is I love it and I think it's a great Mehldau record to start off with if you haven't heard him before because I think Brion adds an aspect that makes his music more accessible. Jazz fans might not like some of his touches but I think it's a cool departure. You never said if you've heard the new Mehldau Adam...have you? I also picked up the new Joe Henry produced record by Solomon Burke. Anyone else have this? Reg
