David,
I don't mind.
Reg,
It's late and I just got home so I'm sorry I didn't have time to get to this sooner. I'm a nut for believing in the sanctity of life and you're the normal one for being happy with maintaining your surroundings just as they are no matter how much suffering is happening elsewhere. Lable me as you will...I don't mind. But please try and be a bit more honest with yourself. I can't believe you're actually that cold hearted. Has your hatred for Bush hardened your heart to all other humanity as well?
God doesn't need to hit you over the head with a hammer, Reg, to open your eyes to His desires for you. It's not about His will nearly as much as it is about our will and what we do with it. I've delivered the message I felt needed to be said and I've made my point. I'll leave it alone now. You do with it what you will.
Don't let the mob mentality around here lead you to believe that there's no need to further assess Reg's understanding of the way things ought to be.
Imagine yourself living in Iraq as a 15 year old boy who has no father because he was killed by saddam loyalists for no reason other than making a disparaging remark about the government. Your mother toils day and night to provide what she can for the family. It's only a matter of time before one of saddam's men rapes your sister and if she's lucky they'll spare her life. The outlook for such a life is grim at best. In your weaker moments you begin to entertain the idea of working for the government so you have an extra measure of protection for your family. This is the only world you know and it's quite possible that you cannot even begin to understand what true freedom would mean for you and your family...
...please finish the story for me...it's all yours.
