This is an ideological war, you fool. One that has to be won from the inside. And ideologies can’t be conquered by bullets or bombs. They have to be eroded from within. Pointing left and right completely misses the goddamn point--we're on a hearts & minds campaign here, spreading America's good news, and these idiots have gone and made a bad situation completely fucking worse.

Do you think Muslims anywhere care that these prisoners weren't cut up and paraded through the streets? Do you think that's going to stop this from blowing back on us?

Plenty of Americans have long been aware that the proper course in the Middle East is thoughtful, long-range diplomacy, not the greedy, myopic disaster it always has been.
