Talk about a page-turner, Kevin, that had me on the seat of my chair. I thought the McDonalds bag in question might contain a prayer rug and the men were assembling for daily prayer. Guess I was wrong. The article raises legitimate questions regarding profiling and the trade-off between civil liberties and security. I have a few thoughts: isn't profiling basically a form of probability analysis that we all engage in daily? And this is not necessarily to advocate for the government doing it but in all honesty, we all use it to one degree or another. Consciously or unconsciously, we form opinions, some correctly, some in error, based upon past experience and what we presently encounter. Notwithstanding this fact, given that we are dealing with incredibly clever terrorists, wouldn't they now be recruiting individuals who don't "fit the profile"?
