Kerry was on his second tour with the Navy when he was assigned
to the Swift boats. The four months you refer to are four months
of sustained combat. Big difference. By the standards your heroes
are using, most of the people that stormed Omaha Beach would be
considered weekend warriors. After all, what did they do? Trained.
hung around waiting, played cards, got dropped off on the beach,
fought for a measly four months, got wounded a few times, and
went home. Big deal, right?
