EEE and Dan,

Bush isn't running on his record while in college, is he?  So whatever analogy you're trying to make, eee, makes no sense at all.  The whole point of the SBV is that Kerry seems only able to want to focus on his days spent in Vietnam as his reasons for being qualified for president.  I know eee keeps saying that these guys didn't serve with him but they actually did.  You didn't have to be in his boat to serve with him just as eee will no doubt vouch for the integrity or lack of integrity of other officers in his unit with which he serves.  Just because he's not in their patrol car doesn't mean he's not able to make some judgments about their ability as officers on the job as their paths routinely cross.

So, what is it with all this war footage of Kerry walking through the jungles and what not?  You've no doubt seen the footage of him trying to act like he doesn't know the camera is on him.  And I'm the one being played like a fiddle?  C'mon you guys.  It's got poser written all over it.  Written, directed and acted out by Kerry himself.

It's become apparent that Kerry is the one who wrote up the descriptions which went along with his medals...not some commander who oversaw his actions.  That's what has the SBV all upset in case you haven't noticed.  The man Kerry later returned to fish out of the river was quite likely there because he fell off Kerry's boat as Kerry ran full throttle in the opposite direction of the fighting.  Kerry has made himself out to be an upstanding soldier and he's so far from that.

Yes, I know...Bush never went to Vietnam and at least Kerry did.  Bush also isn't running on his time spent in the guard.  Kerry is only running on his time spent in Vietnam and because of that it becomes perfectly fine to discuss his four months spent there.  He left after only four months under some very dubious circumstances.  He obviously didn't have the metal of his mentor...the real JFK.  Funny, because when JFK was running for president and was asked about his war days and how he became a hero, his typical response was 'they sunk my boat'.  Oh my gosh, compare that humble response with what we're getting from Kerry and his backers...can you say ridiculous?  What a mess he's created out of four months of his life.  He should have let this sleeping dog lie.

Dan, do you consider Max Cleland a war hero too?  I know he lost limbs in Vietnam but don't you think that when you elevate every injury, no matter how it occurred to hero status you water down the meaning of the word?   Yes, he was in a war zone but he was not at all engaged in combat.  He was on his way to go have some beers when he picked up a grenade lying on the ground and it went off.  I'd say Max is a hero for what he's done with his life in the time since that incident but not for how he received his injuries.  Maybe you could expand on the article I referenced and tell me what it is you have a problem with.
