Dan,

It's a tough question for me to answer.  I think that by giving kids contraception, you're implying that you know they're going to have sex anyway and all the rest is just lip service.  I know that many children aren't being equipped at home to go out into the real world and make good decisions and therefor contraception would prevent unwanted pregnancies.  It's an especially hard decision when you look around at the world we live in and you see that we're inundated with sexuality wherever we go and it doesn't appear there's any going back.

In my mind you've got to stand by your principals (flame away) and stay true to what you believe.  As for me, I agree with Bush's stand in the public schools and the abstinence based sex ed approach.  It's not a perfect approach but neither is the tacit approval the other approach brings.

My wife and I recently took our daughter to have her ears pierced.  She needed us to be there because she wasn't old enough to have it done without our permission.  Had she instead been pregnant and seeking an abortion, she could have done that without our knowledge or permission.  That sort of logic escapes me and I really feel it's born out of the same thinking and good intentions which has us giving out contraception in our schools.
