keep in mind - there is a huge difference between  Rather and the Swiftboat members - for one, quite a large deal of the Swiftboat charges have been proven false, misleading or spun in terrible ways. 

No one has shown any such light upon the content of Rather's reports (even Bush's spokesman spoke in terms of the content as being true in his initial statements).  We all know that Bush did receive preferential treatment, had low flying skils and left the T-ANG under very suspicious circumstances.

And I'm not defending Rather's memo use - it is a shameful thing.

But maybe some good will come out of it - maybe reporters will start doing their jobs better.
