that only yanks from certain areas are actually Yanks here. And actually, that rule has some variations. For instance, technically speaking, by birth Yankees come from the 6 New England states. In Vermont(one of the 6 NE states), the folklore is one is not truly a Vermonter unless your linage is, AT LEAST!!!, 4 generations deep, ON BOTH SIDES of the tree. However, if one is from the Old South(distinct from Texas and the american south west), pretty much everyone else born elsewhere in the country is a YangKee. And then there is baseball... Surely, Australia has regional distinctions too.-)

Nonetheless Al, I took no offense whatsoever at being called a Yank. Thanks for the explanation. Any ideas on, 'the odd pole'?
