For the most part, no. The Democrats have nothing to compare to the Mellon/Scaife/Coors/AEI 300,000,000 dollar whisper machine (More's the pity, in my eyes). List the scurrilous lies told about your George, and I'll deal with them one at a time. As far as GW's misspent youth goes, you'd have to include his daughters, wife and mother as part of the vast left wing smear machine. ("When I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible...") But the thing about GW is, that all you need to do is talk policy, effectiveness and general competence, which one can do quite easily just by looking around at the military/economic/diplomatic morass in which we now find ourselves. As far as that goes, I suppose now your Republican Senators Hagel and Lugar are part of the vast left wing smear machine too, as they've both gone on record (along with virtually every serious foreign policy expert of the last twenty five years) as calling the Bush military and diplomatic policies "incompetent".
