That's because we don't know who you're mad at. The media? Conservatives? Bush? Israel? Iran? CBS?
Well, who isn't mad at CBS for doing what they did? That whole situation was complete horseshit and why would anyone want to watch Rather again? The media certainly frustrates me. I mean I really think I should not watch any tv news at all. It's too compressed and packaged and marketed. I'm tired of the way this election is billed as a heavy weight title fight and sold that way by the media. I think because of that it does screw up the conversations we have on this stuff.
I'm not mad at conservatives...if anything I think I feel bad for them because I think that what could be an honorable viewpoint has been severely fucked up by a group of knuckleheads. I know the feeling though because more often than not I think we all find ourselves not wanting to line up with folks from the left or right.
I'm not really mad at Bush, I'd say I'm more sick of him than anything else. I don't at all find him a capable leader and I don't at all really think he is leading this country at all right now. I think the guy has no backbone but I don't see him as evil or any of that nonsense. I also don't respect the man or the way he's run his reelection campaign.
Israel and Iran are pretty much the two sides of the same coin. They are both a menace if what we are trying to do is fight terror and we need to understand that. Israel is supposed to be a friend of ours but they fit all of our definitions of a rouge nation that we are using to enforce the Bush doctrine on terror. We let them do whatever they want and sell them more weapons and they continue to behave badly. At the same time here we are trying to tell a nation like Iran or North Korea to dismantle their WMD programs. Well, why would any of them take us seriously and why would any other nation take us seriously when our policy with Israel is to arm them and look the other way? I mean isn't it obvious that we need to lay out certain ground rules? We've defined the kind of behavior we don't want to see and Israel is out there doing all the things we claim we don't want done.
Israel does not screw around and if it was likely any nation was going to nuke someone it's them...and then claim they were defending themselves. They would love to nuke Iran. Iran knows that. Iran is issuing threats to the United States and Israel because we're patting Israel on the head and saying "Good little doggie...now here's some more bombs now go ahead and play."
My God, that's insane! We need to get tough with Israel if we're going to make any progress. That's sort of a big problem though because politicians don't want to touch that. If you mention Israel doing anything wrong, in general you get assaulted with all kinds of nastiness. Politicians don't want to lose the Jewish vote and feel they would if they say anything against the Israeli government. The fact is they need to be put in their place and we are the only ones that can do that. That's nothing against the Israeli people but their government is way out over the line and the whole world knows it but our government turns a blind eye.
We have now made a deal to sell them bombs to use against Iran. Setting up a a situation where after this election at any moment Israel may launch an attack against Iran and it will look just like we sponsored that idea. Israel is not shy about doing that...remember right after meeting with Bush, Sharon went home and blew some folks up to take out a terrorist. Now we have a created a scenario that could play out like this:
Israel fires the bunker busters at the Iranian nuke plants because they say they feel threatened by them.
Iran fires back at Israel.
Israel nukes Iran "to defend herself" with WMDs they are not supposed to have.
Iranian WMDs are distributed to terrorists to take revenge on Israel and the United States.
The first Iranian nuke goes off in Iraq...Syria jumps into the game as well seeing the uprising moving forward in a big bad way now.
The next "terrorist nuke" goes off in Israel.
Millions are dead in the Middle East and we sold the bombs to Israel to launch the attack on the Iranian nuclear plants. Millions are united worldwide in their hatred of the tragedy the US helped create in the Middle East.
Do you see why this situation and selling Israel weapons is completely insane?
I'm not mad at Israel or Iran...I'm more in awe of how bad we're dealing with the situation. It's like we want to create dangerous situations there. WHY WHY WHY would we do that? Why isn't anyone in our media questioning this move? Why aren't they talking about it? I mean at the very least this is a move that just jacks up the tension there and at it's worst just makes a dangerous situation far more dangerous. Who is making these calls?
It just seems that there is no "War on Terror" just a war to create more terror. I mean I know you guys can see this...I'm not mad I just want to know I'm not alone in this.
