CHEVRON - NO BLOOD FOR OIL!
11/18: Ten were arrested for participating in an anti-war direct action outside Chevron-Texaco headquarters in downtown San Francisco, and an additional 12 taken into custody afterwards at Diane Feinstein's office. One woman is being transferred to the jail, where she will be charged with felony vandalism for throwing "blood" (a mixture of cornstarch, food color and water). Photos -

11/15: Nearly 200 activists formed citizen weapons inspection teams and delivered a notice of intent to inspect Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a facility involved in the design, development and testing of nuclear weapons. After delivering the letter, the crowd pledged to continue returning to the Lab, until teams of international and civilian weapons inspectors are admitted.

"Young folks are listening to KMEL, not the news," said Nicole Lee, organizer for Let’s Get Free. "We need the station to include the voices of our youth leaders, not blame them, and be willing to look at the public policies that are the root causes of the problems in our communities." A new report put out by media activists Media Alliance and the Youth Media Council details the extent to which KMEL ignores the most basic issues of its largest target demographic.
