Eugene,

Please, if you do find it, post a link or something.  I'd like to read it.

What I find troubling is how the failure of complete American thought and ignorance of history keeps getting us into these messes.  Our own arrogance also doesn't help.  By this I mean how we continually seem to disregard full examination of issues and an attempt to predict policy implications because as a country we think we know all and are the best in the world.

Here is just one example - how else is an opposing group supposed to fight against a group that has an overwhelming amount of firepower and weaponery?  And what did our military planners do?  For months and months they denied they were fighting a guerilla war.  Remember Rumsfeld lying about such a thing?

Folks, if our military politicians had studied history, all of what is now going on in Iraq would have been clear from the start, instead of thoughts like whimiscal ideas of being treated as liberators.  (One Middle East scholar wrote one of their beliefs is "rather forty years of tyrrany than one year of chaos" - now I'm not saying let's keep awful dictators, but realizing concepts like this might lead planners to say, "hm, let's get them folks jobs quick so we can prevent the chaos.")
