Kevin G,

I guess you probably find me a fairly offensive human being. Godless, baby killing, brainwashed pinko nutjob...pretty much how it carves up, right? I'm sick and probably need help from...oh, I don't know...a medical professional or shrink or priest or whatever. I need to pray and reflect and listen and think about the trash I keep spewing. I'm broken and maybe beyond repair. Maybe you're correct about that. I don't feel as if I'm in the "majority" most of the time. I don't feel in touch with the masses or what they are feeling or thinking. I'm one of those people who turns on my tv and thinks "What is all this shit?" and who exactly watches it or decides to make it? To some people that makes me an "elitist" because I'm not going with the flow. I think it just makes me another sad, confused, lost, and occasionally angry American. Many of my fellow Americans like to say "If you don't like it, get out!"...not a real American message. How did we come to be the country of  "We'll put a boot in your ass!" and "Screw what the rest of the world thinks!", how exactly did that happen? We used to be the melting pot. We used to welcome and celebrate our differences. It gave us as Americans the chance to see and understand different cultures and viewpoints. That's what made us the city on the hill and a beacon to the rest of the world. Not our ability to kick ass and shove Christian values down your throat.

Yes, Christians hate evil and we know it when we see it…and no, I’m not talking about gays…good grief, I don’t know why you want to dwell on that.

I bring it up because it's the main reason why so many people voted for Bush. That's the issue that "fired up the Republican base" and the Republicans made sure to play it for all it was worth. I think it's fair game to mention it and keep it out on the table that bigotry helped win an American presidential election. We can't address our ills as a society unless we shine a light on them and discuss them. We can't progress if we don't talk about it. If we sweep it under the carpet it'll only come back to bite us on the ass later. Just like 9/11 was a result of several administrations sweeping stuff under the carpet.

Don’t be so quick to lump the killers of Mathew Sheppard in with Christians.  I’m a Christian, Reg and if it’s your belief that this is how I think then it’s no wonder you and I will never see eye to eye.  In your world are Christians the only ones who hate?  Do Jews hate?  Do gays hate?  Do pretentious intellectual people hate?

I don't have an issue with Chirstians, Kevin. My wife is a Christian. She goes to church every weekend. Her father is a reverend for the UCC. The problem is not all Christians are the same and the bad ones give the whole lot a bad name. People use Christianity to justify a lot of ugly ideas and the current administration is very guilty of promoting that trend. They use issues like abortion and same sex marriage to separate us and rip this country apart for their own purposes. They use your good intentions to manipulate you. It's a devious game and we need to see it for what it is. "Christian values" are just a tool to manipulate the public to the current administration. My wife is quite upset by that apect of these Bushco clowns. Not only does she feel that they have screwed with her country but they have also attacked her religion and turned it into something very ugly. She's a Christian and she finds that very evil.

Not every issue should be put to a vote or run through the political process. Our government should recognize this fact and what their role is and act accordingly to protect our freedoms. If any and every wacky idea was put to a "majority vote" then what you would have would be utter chaos. Certain issues are beyond the realm of what government should be involved with but sadly our government is being used to promote certain agendas and all else be damned I guess.

Was it only Christian Conservatives who turned away the gay marriage proposal?

They were the heart of it, yeah. It had nothing to do with presidential politics but they used the issue to divide the country. Just like they use the abortion issue. Really both of these things have nothing, zero, nada, to do with government but since the Republicans know they play big they use them against us. You don't find that dishonest?

I don’t think so…in fact, your man, Kerry also turned his nose up at it and if it wasn’t for the votes of you on the left the initiatives wouldn’t have been defeated.  So, that begs the question…who are you mad at?

It's not about anger it's about trying to see things for what they are. It's about trying to be reasonable instead of hysterical. I am fed up though. Completely. I have not read a newspaper since Bush won the election. That's been hard for me but I don't want to hear it right now.

Before I forget…who is “controlling a woman who doesn’t want to have a baby”?  Do we not have such things as birth control?  Oh yes, I remember…it’s called abortion.

Hey mistakes happen in life Kevin. Condoms break, people forget to take their pills, shit hits the fan. You'd force every woman to follow through if it happened though right? No matter what the circumstances. Unless the pregnancy might kill her. So all you anti-abortion folks want to control them, no? You believe you know better than they do, that it's against God, and that the choice to have the baby is always the right one. You believe that it's up to you to decide whose life is more important, the mother or the unborn fetus. Having a baby can change a life...not always for the better...but you know what's best always...right?

So sad that you have found it in your heart to embrace this most Hitleresque approach to problem solving.

I know stupidity when I see it like you Christians know evil.

Oh, and Kevin from AZ, if you’re reading this please know that it is your people who most resemble Hitler and you really should understand that.  It is your liberal left who thinks it fine to take a baby moments from birth and in the most barbaric way imaginable kill it while it is nearly half way delivered.

Umm...same comment as above.

How sick it is, Reg, to listen to you ramble on about how wrong we are and that we’re actually the ones on the side of evil.  How does one get to that place?

I never called you evil Kevin...that's a word for Christians and Republicans to throw around and I am neither. How do you get to the place I'm in...I'm not sure you mean that...plus I've come to the conclusion you don't much care for me so why should I answer that...it's sort of a personal question about my inner being.

I’m sure you could have found it in your heart to sympathize with Hitler too…funny how I have to keep invoking his name when thinking of comparisons but it seems to fit so well.

I know the right wing loves to use Hitler as often as they can. He's an old favorite. It is funny because it makes people who say it look so stupid and we lefty liberals get to laugh at them. The Right uses Hitler like they use the bible and Jesus Christ...in a pathetic attempt to make anyone that's not like them look "evil"...thank Christ I'll never be joining that club. You jumped right in though...the water is warm ain't it? And getting warmer all the time.

Do you still think Germany and France were right in their failing to support us in the war with Iraq?

Yes.

Do you suppose the Oil for Food program and money laundering had anything to do with their reluctance to support us?

No, not to any great extent. It helps the right wingers though to promote that idea so that they can ignore the fact that most of the world is not behind them.

You’re such a thinking man but you fail to understand some very key issues.

I guess thanks for the first part of that and to the second part...well...I think it's more appropriate to say we don't agree on some key issues.

Your foundation of understanding is really a base of ignorance and it’s sad that you actually have people here who apparently look up to you.

I can probably be called a lot of things but ignorant is really not one I'd agree with. Feel free to call me whatever else you can think of though. As far as people here looking up to me...I disagree...I'd say they share my "values."

Your arrogance is over the top and your apologies for the rest of us who don’t see the world as it is has grown very old.

I understand. No more apologies from me. Hell, my guy lost anyway right? What do I have to be sorry for? You support this administration, so enjoy.
