The fact that so many of your fellow Britons were unaware of the event is really quite frightening.

I thin there's a difference between being unaware of Auschwitz and being unaware of the Holocaust itslef and I am not a 'Briton' Gene (no offence intended I know). I thought the original question was about knowing about a concentration camp not the event itself. I sense an anger in your post that I don't feel is warranted. I'm not trying to proportionalise acts of evil...I'm not even sure what I'm defending myself against here. Did I insult you? Would it make you feel better if I said the Holocaust was the worst thing that ever happened? It probably was on a macro level but not the micro level to any person who loses a loved one to some evil deed or other. This kind of discussion is fraught with difficulties and can result in people like menot saying anything and thus not communicating for fear of being misinterpreted or misunderstood. Please clarify what you're interpreting from my posts so I can clear up any misunderstanding
