peter case's "Put Down Your Gun" or "Ice Water"... or maybe bill morrissey's "before we lost the war"... (i shouldn't've started... now i'm thinking jeffrey foucault, kris delmhorst...)
maybe not overly appropriate suggestions. both are already pretty stripped-down... they just came to mind.
