Wow David, sounds like you are more than lucky.

As I have gotten older (and, arguably, matured), I have gotten more and more wary of car travel.  I used to drive through any storm without a care.  Most of the time it was just me in the car back then.  Tornadoes, blizzards, toad-strangling rainstorms, I didn't care.

Got stuck in a blizzard on the plains, driving home from a honeymoon trip to Mexico, and haven't really recovered.  I don't drive in storms like I used to.

Now, with kids in the back seats, I'd about rather not go out of the house!  I recall driving home a couple of years ago, over an interstate turned rough as cobblestone by packed snow, thinking "why did I bring the family out here again?"

Glad you made it through the accident only slightly scathed.  Sorry to hear that the young'n seems to have taken the brunt of it.  It does change things when there are kids in the back seats, doesn't it?
