wow. THE DOORS were my teenage staple, though it was all 10 years gone by already. i never would've thought of LA WOMAN (1971) as a comeback album, even knowing the rough timeline. i know morrison was almost gone already, large mammal beard on the cover... barely able to get it recorded... but it was released only 14 months after MORRISON HOTEL (1970), and only 4 years after THE DOORS (1967). with 3 other great studio albums in between.

oddly, just doing a quick webcheck of the discography, i saw something that i'd forgotten or never realized: "waiting for the sun" wasn't on the album by that name, but on Morrison Hotel... why didn't i remember that? i had 23 doors records in high school, right before i started buying cds...

and what about the doors FULL CIRCLE?

i never had the same obsession with concrete blonde, and i'd say that bloodletting was the pinnacle for me... but was it a comeback? never seemed like it to me, but i don't know much about the band. i did watch a lot of MTV in those days...

and finally, gotta throw in bob dylan's 2001 Time Out of Mind... as i go through his catalog from the 80s and 90s, i like it more and more, always finding great stuff that i'd never noticed before... but still, the 2001 album was a huge step back up...

thank you.
