Seems most left-handed drummers play "standard" (right-handed) kits. Phil Collins is an exception. I always played standard kits but can manage a lefty kit almost equally well...or badly :-)  Stewart Copeland's another lefty who plays a standard kit. Among non-drummers, Mark Knopfler's a lefty who plays non-lefty. Ditto Glen Frey.

Story has it that Paul's formative days with the Quarrymen found him struggling with right-handed guitars, because he simply flipped them over *without* re-stringing them.
