Well it wasn't all Buddy Holly...that's ridiculous (you're reminding me of why I think John Mellencamp is an asshole, especially every time I've seen him interviewed).  There were a lot of early Black R n' B group covers, including some Chuck Berry and Little Richard, Elvis style stuff and some country acoustic things of their own,  "skiffle" music, whatever that was...Although they did do a cover of Words of Love that wiped the floor with ol' Buddy.  Never did like Buddy Holly (voice that is); some very neat songs he wrote though.
