Nothing planned this year. We don't get a lot of bands up here in Maine anyway, let alone New Year's Eve. Oh well..

I do remember my favorite NYE shows; for about 4 consecutive years in the early 80's the J. Geils Band would throw their "houseparties" here in Portland on NYE. Man, what a frigging party!!! Those guys were the best!! They would play non stop for over 3 hours. One year Peter Wolf said the band felt really good and they "were gonna play ALL NIGHT!!"  "YAHOO!" I yelled but "yeah right" was what I was thinking. After their 5th(!!) encore the house light came on and we all started heading for the exits. It was almost 2:00 a.m. and I was tired, sweaty and my voice was gone. As we were leaving I hear over the PA...... "HEY PORTLAND!! WHERE THE HELL IS EVERYONE GOING?? I TOLD YOU WE'RE GONNA PLAY ALL NIGHT!!!!" Down go the lights again and they played another 3 or 4 songs. People were going nuts!!They had to have played every single song they knew that night. It was amazing. One of the best nights of my life.
