Saw Floyd many times, starting with the Meddle tour at Kent State in 71/72(?)   (DSOM Blossom; WYWH Three Rivers; Animals Cle Muny; MLOR CleMuny & Colosseum; DB Cle Muny)
So how was Syd Barrett. Did they improve in leaps and bounds with the release of Dark Side?

What I saw of Live 8 wasn't sub-par but it did look like they were going through the motions.  I read somewhere that Gilmore & Waters did not talk  to each other back stage at all. 
Well speaking as someone who has never seen them live or on video live I was impressed. I bought the DVD for the making of Dark Side and was impressed that each member contributed quite a bit to the band even though Waters wrote the lyrics Gilmore was heavily involved writing the music
