Pat - good to see you getting into the great sport of disc golf! I throw a forehand flick as well, and can usually pop them 300 feet or so.
A lot of the Innova discs are great. My fave driver is a KC Eagle. Discraft makes some good stuff too, and I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about Gateway. There's even a foreign manufacturer now as well - in the UK. I really prefer the new "champion" plastics - they are more durable but do take a little more time to get used to.
I don't stick to any one particular brand. The various models all fly so differently that you need to just find ones that you are comfortable with. It's a good idea to have a variety of discs (and even varying weights in models you like) because you never know what the course is going to demand.
Are you playing many different courses? I haven't played any of the courses around Austin, though I have played Texas ones in Dallas, Arlington and Houston.
