Thanks for the update Chucker. I went to the site, but my computer is so slow at downloading that I only perservered long enough to hear a few tantalising snippets of songs and even smaller snatches of video.
Did some more searching and came up with the following:
Ric Ocasek Working On Solo CD, Cars DVD
{CarsYouMightThink}
Former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek is moving back into the spotlight. Billboard.com says he'll be issuing a new album this fall, and he's working on a DVD documentary about his former group. The eleven-track "Nexterday" will be the singer's first release since 1997's "Troublizing." Former Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes contributes to the project, along with Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer. The CD's being described as the most basic-sounding album of Ocasek's career. He admits that he wrote and recorded the material all in a matter of just a few months, which made it a fairly quick project when compared to the lengthier efforts afforded to Cars' albums.
Ocasek is also giving input to "The Cars Unlocked." The DVD will include live material spanning the group's history, and also feature footage shot backstage and in hotel rooms, interview segments, video outtakes, and rare clips of the band members. Ocasek says he believes the documentary will be the most comprehensive package about the band that's ever been made. While no projected release date has been offered for "The Cars Unlocked," Ocasek's "Nexterday" is due in stores on September 27th.
So, not only do I have new Ocasek music to anticipate, but also a Cars DVD - you've made my day!
