THE UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT AMHERST is seeking permission to grow marijuana to study its use for medical treatments. The University of Mississippi, which is the only federally approved source of cannabis for research, opposes the request. A Massachusetts scientist argues that Mississippi's product is of insufficient potency and quality.
