Today I've been getting my normal slew of advertisements by e-mail from companies such as "Pottery Barn" and "Lamps Plus" telling me about their big sales this Labor Day Weekend. These are the "not-so-smart companies."
I'm writing back to each telling them that there's a national catastrophe happening and their advertisement makes no notice about it; I'm suggesting that they donate a portion of their Labor Day sales revenues to the huricane victims.
"Smart companies" are all ready on top of this. United Airlines sent me an e-mail how I can donate $50 and receive 500 air miles. E-Bay has an announcement of how to donate online.
It's a small idea, but perhaps if everyone would write back to advertisers today and suggest they donate - maybe we can help in some indirect way.
