It's a Sunday in the city

everybody's on parade

hot dog music fills the air

the bongo players play

a man with a megaphone

says we are all slaves

what else is new?

I just keep on walking

roller skating girls twirl

in the dying sun

waves crash on the shoreline

the day's about done

I turn the corner

blind my eyes in the sun

nothing's gonna bring me down

I feel so fine

all the knick knack vendors

fold their tents up in the shade

gangsters stand around them

drinking beer and lemonade

throw away my cigarette

thinking maybe I'll quit today

give a cough and

I keep on walking

love is eternal as long as it lasts

good times come

then they pass

a brother staggers into me

eyes like bloody glass

I give him change

and I keep on walking

nothing's gonna bring me down

I feel so fine

sometimes it gets so ugly

all you can do is crack sick jokes

a little cyanide humor

about lamp shades and soap

me I'm pretty sick of that

how bout faith or even hope

it's time to tease the dogs a bit

it's time to pull the rope
