when it first came out. I was familar with the bands albums through a friend. Very well recieved by the critics here in the states and across the big pond. I have to admit I didn't care for it all that well. I prefer Mercury Rev instead. They are very familar. MR's "Deserter Songs" is just brill. Try downloading some samples off the net , before you buy. The Flaming Lips latest disc ended up on a large number critics "Best Of 2002 " lists. I here their latest is even more difficult to listen then "Soft B." They also opened up for Beck and were his tour band for his most recent tour of the states. Many of other bands besides Beck, just adore their music.
