A few months ago there was an essay where the writer said that one can't support the troops and be against the war, just like you asked.

My view is that you can. From being in the military, soldiers are given "jobs" to do and the honorable thing about this is that when given a "job" to do, soldiers will find a way to get the job done. Now, I'm not talking about supporting things like mass killings of innocent people or torturing prisoners.

So, when I think of "supporting the troops" I think of things like giving them the equipment they need, providing for them and their families, but above all, being honest with them and not sending them to a war that is unnecessary or built on lies.

To me, one of the most terrible things our government has done, is to lie about Iraq, 9/11 and Hussein. And this is clearly evident because just recently another poll of soliders revealed when they were asked why we are in Iraq, the largest majority gave some sort of 9/11 related answer.

Now, I'm not saying the majority of military rank and file are stupid people, but they are many times young and still believe the government. These folks also come from all walks of American life and to me, put too much faith in our leaders.
