Ahhhh Camping at Joshua Tree.
Spent many a fine weekend out there, including two excellent trips during the Peseids meteor shower back in the early 90's.
Now that is a tonic I strongly recommend for any of you intrepid outdoors types.
We always parked ourselves in the Jumbo Rocks areas.
On one occasion I got to see a friend of mine scream like a little girl (no offense to little girls), high pitched shriek and flailing arms, running at an unsafe speed down the rocks when a rattler made its presence known. He in fact ran and left the 2 females he was "escorting" high and dry.
He isn't terribly manly to begin with, so...
Joshua Tree and the Black Hills two of my favorite spots in these United States.
