Icon Dr.Landy, tell me you're not just a pedagogue

I remember anxiously waiting for Brian's solo debut. I was really just discovering Pet Sounds and the legendary Smile tracks scattered on other Beach Boys albums. When I heard the opening lines of "Love and Mercy" on that first solo cd I was stunned. Gone were the soaring falsetto and amazing melodies of the past. The harmonies were there but in some cold, processed late '80's feel. Nearly every song co-written by Dr.Eugene Landy and he even got the title of Executive Producer. Most of you know the whole Dr. Landy-ization of poor 'ol Brian. Here's a clip of the two of them just after the album was released, check out Gene's absolutely killer mullet, it's worth watching for it alone
