Had a good night last night...

The wife is out of town and I had no plans so I went to see Pops Walker ( http://www.popswalker.com/ ), an acoustic blues guitarist and pretty fine singer too. Got there a little late so I missed the first set and happened to run into Pops as I was walking in and he was walking out to have a smoke. I said hello and we introduced ourselves and we walked out to his van to check on his dog, cool that the dog travels with him, and we had a nice chat. We headed in and went upstairs and I caught his second set and a fine set it was. He played some of his tunes, played a song (Whiskey Drinkin' Preacher) by a Nashville songwriter friend of his named Chuck Cannon (who also has a new disc out http://www.chuckcannon.com/index.htm?id=5371 ), and a Bill Withers cover Ain't No Sunshine. He closed his set with a real cool song I really like called Bhodie and Me that I happened to request while we were out hanging out with his dog. He's a real good guy and if you get the chance you should check out his music and go see him if you get the chance. If you like acoustic blues you'll be happy you did.

Edit:
Oh yeah, and here's a quote from Pops that sort of goes with some of the conversations I've been having around here lately:
"There's probably only one God, one Heaven, and one Hereafter. But there must be a slew of ways to get there. Choose your stream of consciousness and swim there. Be gracious enough to let others choose theirs." - Pops Walker
