Well that is a start. Do you believe the Bush tax cuts stimulated the economy?
I studied macro and micro economics in college...doesn't mean I know anything anymore...but economic trends span decades, although they're influenced by foreign and domestic policies.
One thing I know is that the economy is not driven by over taxation. I know that if you give Capitalism a nudge which is what Bush did with the tax cuts it creates more jobs which creates more money which stimulates the economy and ultimately more tax money for Uncle Sam.
If what you mean (and I suspect you don't) is THE economy - then I guess you're talking about the global economy...so I would say no. However, Reagan's supply side economics made lotsa sense in (wait for it) an emerging global market.
I'll take your word for it. I was generally talking about the U.S. economy though.
But as far as, you know, us and the guy who puts the b and h around it...I think money trickles up...corporations, are by definition, out to make money. Nothing wrong with that until you start commodifying people as a resource, for example it's simpler than ever to justify outsourcing in a global 'market' while robbing a local economy.
I felt that squeeze as I was one of "techees" displaced by the onslaught of H1 Visa and the invasion of Indian outsourcing both here and abroad. I felt hugely betrayed by the Bush stance on this as they continued to up the H1 counts even during the crash. Funny last week I had an lucrative offer to work at Dell and they picked me specifically because I was not H1. So the Indian experiment is not prospering any longer here which is good news to me.

Hmmnn...................
Why does that give you pause? I don't tell you what to do. You can't have kids. In fact, order number one - be capable of birthing children - get back to me on that one....
Well my view of this has done a 180. I see that decision in a totally different light. You can do anything with your life as long as it does not kill others which is basically what we are talking about. Let's table this one though because I think we have beat this one to death up here
"I don't want to deregulate OSHA or unionize."
So you believe in Capitalism?
"Believe' - Capitalism, like freedom (you're free to kill yourself or kill others) has no morality. There's a 'cap' to capitalism. We outspent the russians, but look what we got...when we (us) could've stepped up and shown the world who and why we are, just like after WWII and the marshall plan - we didn't. Capitalism, like communism works to an extent...ask me about my plan...OSHA or MSHA supposedly look out for us, but there's lotsa miners who've died, and lotsa bat and squirrel parts in your cereal and bread - so at least it's evenly distributed....as opposed to the friction of the day...
Capitalism left to itself would totally weed out the weak and bring on the strong. A capitalistic society is good and it was makes us the super power that we are but in the end if left alone would leave everyone in a dog eat dog world and you and me are wearing Alpo underwear. So I see the downside
I'm glad you're 'round here Pat, hope I answered your questions...
Thanks Lee
