I infer that the farming practices in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and western South Dakota have pretty much wiped out insect life there.

[Voice of Eric Cartman] Hahaahahahheheheh…  All due respect, ‘guess ya didn’t stop to camp or walk a path or…well anything outdoors in the morning or around dusk….or pretty much anytime in the sunshine actually.  I suppose these bug bites all over my ace are my imagination.  Trust me, there is an abundance oh bugs in the Midwest.  They dig it here jus’ like anywhere else, corn fields or not; …countless l’il buggers from mites to beetles to weevils to aphids to spiders to gnats to midges to moths to slugs to pill bugs & sow bugs to ants to wasps (& not only those pretentious ones with bizness cards and SUVs), etc., etc..  Let’s not forget deer flies (nasty bastids!) that will gladly fck-up a perfect afternoon hike…on a tree lined path in the summer.  These bugs will drive you bloody nuts, with an emphasis on bloody, whether your running or cycling or just walking to your favorite quiet niche in the park to make-out outdoors under the sun with your best gal after a workout.

Bugs ate a heaping helping of our garden this year, …we decided to let them build and eat and have there way just to see what would ultimately happen; well they’re over procreating ire affecting egocentric pesky guests who have no problem being a great big yucky garden de-beautifying bummer.  Anybody who has had an outdoor party…or fished or camped-out or canoed or played disc golf on a perfect, but somewhat windless, day amidst old growth oaks, birch, sycamore, beech & hemlock, walnut & maple while learning how to inhale & exhale under dense clouds of flying bugs in this naturally superb but miserably over legislated state would have to disagree with you.

We’ve got an insect population.

This is not to say that the misuse of chemical pesticides hasn’t been a foundation in farm country; …hell, …they have trucks that occasionally spray the crap in small residential lake communities to keep the mosquitoes & the riff-raff off the streets at night.  Some conspiracy theorists might even think our local govs are doing chemical testing on humans ~~ nonsense, I know (chuckle;o).  Please rest assured, if there’s a shortage of bugs in the Midwest…then I’d hate to be in the midst of a healthy plethora.

I got bugs
I got bugs in my room
Bugs in my bed
Bugs in my ears
Their eggs in my head
Bugs in my pockets
Bugs in my shoes
Bugs in the way I feel about you

Bugs on my window
Trying to get in
They don't go nowhere
Waiting, waiting...
Bugs on my ceiling
Crowded the floor
Standing, sitting, kneeling...
A few block the door

And now the question's:
Do I kill them?
Become their friend?
Do I eat them?
Raw or well done?
Do I trick them?
I don't think they're that dumb
Do I join them?
Looks like that's the one

I got bugs on my skin
Tickle my nausea
I let it happen again
They're always takin' over
I see they surround me, I see...
See them deciding my fate
Oh, that which was once...was once up to me...
Now it's too late

I got bugs in my room...one on one
That's when I had a chance
I'll just stop now
I'll become naked
And with the...I'll become one
