I realize you're probably an expert on the United Nations and how the US can kick ass but do you know anything about France? Did you know that they have a far worse immigration problem than we do?
And....................

 Did you know they are pretty much being overrun with people that have migrated from North Africa? Muslim people, people of Arabic descent. Did you know that the French are used to seeing armed soldiers standing on street corners and in the Metro? That they are used to regular security checks? Have you been to an airport in France and heard that constantly repeating announcement about how "all luggage left unattended will be systematically destroyed"? I think the French know what they are dealing with. I think their government has the right to make it's own decisions based on what's good for their country.
Man you hit the nail on the head with that last statement Reg. Right on. And we(US) are going to make our own decisions based on what is good for our country not what is in the best interests of France. Funny how we are pointing to Oil as the driving factor here. If Oil was the main reason we were going. Why did we not just take it back in the Gulf Crisis in 91-92?

See the United States always has set an example. We've come to the aid of other nations no matter what. Sure, we are often not shown the gratitude many think we deserve but did we do these things because we wanted the thanks of the world or did we do them because it was the right thing to do? Do we operate like the mafia and make all acts of kindness on our part favors that leave those who recieve them forever in debt to us.

Glad you are willing here to admit the U.S. gives and gives and gets no gratitude in return. Sometimes downright hostility. It boils down to jealousy for the most part

There are beautiful villages in France that look the same as they did hundreds of years ago with one exception, the old stone walls and streets are covered with Arabic graffiti. They have a problem there that I don't think there's enough Frenchmen in berets to handle. Our government does as it sees fit and we expect no criticism of it. Is it the American way that other countries should not expect to be able to do the same? France and Germany our not our enemies, they have a right to express their opposition to something that may effect them far more than it does us in the immediate future don't they? Or is that Un-American?
Reg,  Correct and they can express it all day long. Just dont expect any favors from the U.S. in the future.

Oh, yeah...I forgot we're going to set a new example...you're either with us or against us. You'll be calling for the bombing of France soon won't you Pat? Because if they don't support us they support terrorism and we've declared "War On Terror".  Perhaps we could drop a few bombs on France on our way to Iraq. They deserve it don't they?
Reg the above statements are ludicrous and you know that. Did 9-11 register with you at all? Do you really thing being a pacifist and chanting Kumbaya at peace rallies is going to get it done? Would it matter had we found a smokin gun by the inspectors? Does the word pre-emtive mean anything? Do we have to wait for someone to hit us again? Do you really...really believe the U.N. has the power to do shit? Next would it be best to send in U.N. troups to scold Sadaam. Send him to the corner with no milk and cookies.
