I'm enjoying "The Captain and The Kid" also. So many of Elton's albums have been overproduced and Taupin's lyrics lacked much of their former glory. It's so refreshing to hear great production, and a return to form for Taupin.
Those reissue cd's do sound great especially "Tumbleweed Connection". "Ballad of a Well Known Gun" is one of my all time fave tracks. I'm pretty sure the guitarist from those "Madman" sessions was Caleb Quaye, an occasional bandmate from those early days.
Elton is playing here tonight, I'd love to go but it sold out months ago.
