Peter,

I don't think it's foolish to connect the dots and come to the conclusion that Saddam is evil.  It would be extremely naive to allow him to continue as he has been.  We put no obstacles in Bin Laden's path and we see what he was able to do out of the comfort of a cave.  Saddam, on the other hand has an entire country at his disposal. 

Imagine telling Jews as they were led onto the trains toward the concentration camps not to worry because "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves and wiser people so full of doubts."  Everything will be okay.
