i see your point...but it's not so much that; ...drinking and driving is not my intention.  i have quite a few reasons to get into red wine & candle lit state of mind with my wife, most of 'em matters of the heart, ... & The Crossing Guard just happens to be one of the more solemn & searching rituals we share once a year.  The idea is not to get ripped and celebrate alcahol related tragedy…but to get centered in some kind of meaningful semi-out-of-body & moody state [with the aid of preparation, atmosphere & red wine] and let the motions of that very fckn poignant human drama get under our skin…real deep under…. 

 

However anybody does it, & many thanks to Sean Penn & his apt cast, I think it’s good for people to let the pain & epiphany of a film like this into their souls every now and again.  FWIW, that’s my piece, Blockdog.  To each his own.  ...My point was simply:  Regarding The Crossing Guard, I concur with your comments.
