I use USENET all the time to obtain tv shows, etc. that other folks have TIVO'd.  There's a learning curve on how to get stuff (at least the way I get it), as each file (.mpg, .mp3, .avi, etc.) has to be broken up across innumerable posts due to limits on the size of each post.  You have to have newsreader software that takes each of those itty-bitty posts and mashes 'em all back up to the file you intended to DL.

ps--it gets addicting.  I've got a collection now of about 2TB of video, mostly current and recent TV shows.  There's something out there for everyone---and I mean everyone.....
