Thanks to Petey for the question! I have listened to a lot of artists I might not have listened to without the thread and found some stuff I really enjoy...that said, I (like most of you, I suspect) own so much music, I can't really prioritize it - or even alphabetize it - so I'm going to cut my choices in half but provide the reasoning....so here goes...
1) Mars, Bringer of War - Grieg - for when the hunger/madness sets in.
2) Message in a Bottle - The Police - because pretending a 100 billion people are in the same situation I'm in will make me feel better.
3) When the Tigers Broke Free - Pink Floyd - so I'll feel happy about being seperated from the ramifications of society's worst behavior, which will be of special comfort when I don't know it's coming since I'm not really part of it anyway.
4) My Romance - Etta James - hopefully not for me and some coconut.
5) Let's Go Native - U2/Passengers - for the prodigious shaking of ass and ill-timed foot stomp that should NEVER be confused with dancing.
6) Summertime - Billie Holiday - Because I'm from the arctic north and while I like the change of seasons, summertime - all the time - might not be so bad.
7) Being Alone Together - Dave B. & Dave R. - for me and my new best friend - the coconut.
8) Ol' Man River - Ray Charles - I don't need a reason.
9) If 6 was 9 - Jimi Hendrix - for defending my newfound relationship with fruit.
10) Pincushion - ZZTop - because one of the things I'll miss that was made better through the application of electricity is the guitar outro (as opposed to execution). Besides, what the hell am I playing all this on to begin with?
