If this is true, wouldn't all islands in the Pacific be sinking? And what about the west coast of the US? Shouldn't their shorelines be affected as well? The Pacific Ocean is an enormous body of water. I would assume it would take a MASSIVE amount of additional water to raise it's level even a tiny amount.
Maybe the island is sinking beneath the ocean rather than the ocean swallowing it?
