I saw a piece the other night about a wealthy mathmatician who has started a program to lure our best and brightest math grads back into the classroom in a teaching position. They have placed something like 400 teachers so far. The program involves a 20,000 dollar bonus on top of their annual salary.

That is the problem we face, if we can't make the teaching proffesion attractive in terms of livelyhood, then we will continue to get what we have. The burdens being layed on our teaching force for what they earn is unbelievable. Many people are leaving the proffession.
