Guys, guys, guys... Its not just firing and replacing US attorneys. Its firing them and then replacing them WITHOUT OVERSIGHT OR APPROVAL. It's attempting to (and who knows how many other attorneys knuckled under, how many other abuses that we dont know about yet) subvert the entire Justice Dept in order to pursue frivolous prosecutions for political reasons, or to cease righteous prosecutions for political reasons. It's tainting the entire Justice system with a deep, inherent corruption, robbing it of credibility. Clinton fired 93 attorneys when he came on, like a lot of Presidents do, but he did it at the beginning of his term, like they all did, and went through the approval process, like every other President has until this one. He didnt attempt to pressure his US attorneys to falsely prosecute political enemies. He didnt have Arlen Specter sneak a clause into the Patriot Act allowing him to replace them WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT. The last guy to try anything close to this is Nixon, and that was the end of him. (Remember the Friday Night Massacre?)

It's what is known as a compound felony. A highly jailable offense. And they were so convinced they had the electoral system in this country wired, so cnvinced they were going to game the 2006 elections, that THEY DIDNT BOTHER TO COVER UP THEIR CRIMES. They left a trail of emails and such a mile wide, and they have tried to make a punked out jailhouse bitch out of the US Attorneys office, and that jailhouse bitch is about to turn around and give them the beating of a lifetime. Watch Gonzalez spend the next two years trying to stay out of jail.

And Rove's in it up to his eyeballs, as the email trail proves. Where Gonzalez goes, there goes Unka Karl. (And Harriet Miers, too.) Even if they dont go to jail, their days as political operatives are over. The White House is about to have about 400 investigators and staff swarm all over them, and their list of prosecutable offenses is long, and doesnt need to be fabricated, unlike Clinton era wisps like those you mentioned.
