Jeff,
My interest in this genre (prog) started with Genesis. When I was 16 I heard "Blood on the Rooftops" and was blown away. I bought Wind and Wuthering that day and worked my way back through their catalogue.
As I wrote in my "top ten" post "Seconds Out" is the pinnacle for me. The sound on that live cd is HUGE. Their version of Supper's Ready is still amazing after 25 years. The closing section still gives me chills to this day.
When Hackett left I knew their glory days were over. It still makes me sad. Phil Collins did become a multi-millionaire with his pop songs but he lost my respect as a musician. He tossed aside the QUALITY of their music for money they would make from their "pop" period. Don't get me wrong, I like some pop songs as much as the next guy but I don't want to hear it from a band or artist who was (and is) capable of so much more.
BTW Have you heard Peter Gabriel's "The Barry Williams Show" yet? Maybe it'll grow on me. But I do know this; Tony Levin is THE best bass player alive today.
Oh, and thanks for the picture, Jeff! Nice job!!
Dale
